Really Free Everything in London

guaka — Fri, 24 Oct 2014 09:42:54 +0000

Well, London is seeming to be the easiest place in the world to live in that I have lived in. Last year I lived in 16 countries in Europe and Africa. Every restaurant/cafe that sells boxed food has stock on its way. If they don't sell everything in the store they can't store it... it has to go out. So they leave these boxes of food in front of the cafe's in bin bags.

Moneyless world

A moneyless society is a very utopian idea. Nevertheless human beings were living in a world without money at some point in the past. According to Wikipedia money emerged already around 12,000 BC. Though the first coins have been created quite a bit later. As many other concepts such as insurance, banknotes have first come up in China. The first banknotes were merchant receipts of deposit in the 7th century.

Free public transport

guaka — Tue, 02 Sep 2014 11:27:07 +0000

In most places it's still a far stretch but there will be a day that public transport is freely accessible. In some cities it's already happening and for some people in some Western places, but free public transport is still something to work towards.

In Amsterdam there is free public transport for the elderly with low income and little capital. In Eindhoven there's free public transport for everyone older than 65 years regardless of income. In many other Dutch cities experiments have taken place but until now free public transport hasn't materialized yet.

Free Money

"Free money!" I love it. It reminds me of my trip to Vegas back in 2011 with my pal Kenny. Yes there was some free money to be had, although I'm not sure it really happened on the craps table. Our relatively fancy hotel room in the Pyramid was definitely free, our drinks were free, as long as we were playing and I did get 10 USD for free for registering myself with the casinos. I even somewhat believe that Kenny is smart enough to be able to make money in Vegas.

Free wiki hosting

Wikis are great ways to structure knowledge together with other people. Wiki means fast in Hawaiian, which is for a reason. I've written a little overview of free wiki software, now it's time for free wiki hosting. Unfortunately spammers have also found ways to use wikis, mainly for black hat SEO linkbuilding purposes. This makes it pretty hard to keep a community wiki running.

Free wiki software

Hardly anyone who surfs the internet has not seen Wikipedia. Still many people are unaware of the etymology of the name. The term wiki was actually coined by Ward Cunningham in 1995 when he wanted to create a website for common programming patterns. He chose the word "wiki" which means fast in Hawaiian, a dying language. Ward's wiki was a big success and is still used today. Six years later Jimmy Wales started Wikipedia, which was actually a side project of Nupedia, which was supposed to be a serious encyclopedia written by professors and PhDs.

Free pictures

guaka — Wed, 25 Dec 2013 16:19:25 +0000

When creating online and offline material it's very important to add pictures. It's easy to find pictures through Google Image search. Unfortunately it's not legal to use most of these pictures for any purpose. You could instead opt to pay for royalty free pictures, but this costs money and it's even tedious to sign up and deal it.

It might sound funny, but there are ways to get free weed if you don't have money. The first thing to add of course it that drugs are bad. You should not use drugs, even if they are free. But if you are going to smoke weed anyway you might as well do so without losing money. Here are some tips. If you're lucky you can try this free trial with HempThatWorks, available in all 50 states.

Give-away shop

Are you looking for clothes, books, toys, pans or just something new to use? You could give it a try at a give-away shop, sometimes also simply called free shop. That's not a store in the traditional meaning, but a place to find free stuff.

All second hand stuff you can find there, clothing, books, toys, a computer or a ladle, it's all for free! There are quite some useful things at times, give-away shops aspire to be an alternative to the throw-away economy.
